General Guidelines

1. Social Media Guidelines

As much as possible, we aim to host a Phone/Screen/Social media FREE event. We are aware that in this day and age this may sound like a radical idea, but we feel strongly that in order to make the most of this unique experience, in order to dive into the world of handmade crafts and craftsmanship, it is best to engage with the material and with each other directly, and not through any virtual lenses.

  • Everyone will be requested to make their call in the designated area only and not to use their phones during the sessions.
  • In the spirit of this and also keeping child safety in mind, we request each school to designate a single person as their media person. The person would be given an ID card by us and they alone will be allowed to take pictures of students from their school.

2. Using the Well

We have a small well on the campus. If your students can swim you may request to add your school to the Evening Well Rota. Other than that allotted time the well will be out of bounds.

3. Garbage and Pollutants

  • We take a lot of care in segregating all waste. Please join us in this effort and please do not bring plastic with you into the campus.
  • Being an ecologically sensitive place, we ask you to bring eco-friendly soaps and cosmetics. Also, please avoid using strong artificial smells.
  • Clothes washing - There is a dedicated clothes drying area for girls/women above Transition, and a general line. Do use the natural washing soaps provided by us.
  • We take a lot of care in segregating all waste. Please take back the garbage with you on your way out, in case you have any.

4. Food

  • We will do our level best to provide all with healthy, nutritious and tasty vegetarian food throughout the week, with emphasis on locally grown cuisine. At the same time, we will be feeding over 500 hundred members every day, which is a big stretch for our small kitchen. We ask for your support and understanding in any shortcoming on our side.
  • Lunch will be served in shifts starting at 12:30 pm. Artisans and younger children will be served first, please help us maintain that.

5. Water Usage

Please use water sparingly. There are 4 showers available in the school. Drinking water will be provided in bubble tops at various locations around the school and tap water at ARS is potable water.

6. Toilets

  • Do use pit loos whenever possible. There are 2 pits for boys, 2 for girls beyond the swings.
  • Girls also have various flush toilets available for them, the locations of which should be clarified during the introductory round.

7. Residential Areas

Residential areas are strictly out of bounds.

Safety Concerns

  • Gym Area - The gym area is out of bounds during crafts hours (10:00 am - 5:00 pm). The mud floor should not get scratched, so please be careful not to use sharp objects on it. Please don't take gymnastic equipment (e.g., mattresses) without supervision.
  • Climbing Wall - The upper red line is the limit for climbing without a harness.
  • No Climbing on the School Building - For safety, climbing on the school building is strictly prohibited.
  • First Aid Kit - The First Aid kit is kept in the office. There is a sick room next to the new office.
  • Valuables - Valuables can be kept in the school office. Contact Prashanth (6383929804) for assistance.
  • Registration Counter - The registration counter will be set up at the entrance. Orientation will be done by a group of children and teachers.
